Local companies host successful seminar at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst
“How best to plan for the sale of a business?”
Over 50 attendees from local businesses attended a recent breakfast seminar hosted by JFP Strategic Planning and Avondale Group, a Reigate-based mergers and acquisitions specialist, at The Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. John Fairley, Senior Partner at JFP, spoke on “Preparing Businesses for Sale”, and Stephen Rees-Williams of Avondale outlined the valuation principles of businesses in the SME marketplace along with the many anomalies that exist in the sector. Stephen talked about deal structures and the current marketplace with vivid examples of real deals recently transacted.
According to JFP senior partner John Fairley, who has built two companies from scratch with a combined £9million turnover: “A lot of company directors feel that their business has value but are not sure of the best way to prepare for sale and realise full value.”
“Taking time out to plan and think about the company direction and saleability is critical. Managers and staff working together can generate new ideas and inspire the business teams to work more effectively and improve performance making the business more attractive to a prospective purchaser.”
